Two Masters. One Choice.
No one can serve two masters…. You cannot serve both God and money.
1 Timothy 6:10
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil….
Luke 6:38
Give, and it will be given to you….
Read This Out Loud
It’s not a behavior issue.
It’s a heart issue.
You don’t drift because you’re weak.
You drift because something else has your loyalty.
Jesus didn’t say you might struggle with two masters.
👉 He said it’s impossible.
Something is forming you.
Something is leading you.
Something is owning your decisions.
And whatever has your heart….
👉 will eventually have your life.
The Devotional
Most men try to fix outcomes.
More discipline.
More effort.
More control.
But Jesus goes deeper.
He doesn’t correct behavior first.
👉 He exposes allegiance.
“You cannot serve two masters….”
Not “should not.”
Not “try not to.”
👉 Cannot.
Because your heart was never built to be divided.
So when your life feels pulled in two directions….
God vs comfort
Purpose vs pleasure
Calling vs control
That tension isn’t random.
👉 It’s revealing.
The Real Issue
1 Timothy 6:10 doesn’t say money is the problem.
It says the love of it is.
Because money isn’t just currency.
👉 It’s control.
👉 It’s security.
👉 It’s identity for many men.
And when your heart attaches to what feels safe….
you will slowly detach from what requires trust.
That’s how drift happens.
Not overnight.
👉 Through quiet re-alignment of the heart.
The Hidden War
Here’s what most men miss:
You can say you trust God….
and still structure your life around something else.
Your calendar reveals it.
Your stress reveals it.
Your decisions reveal it.
Because your heart doesn’t follow your words.
👉 It follows your treasure.
Jesus said it plainly (earlier in the same chapter):
“Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
So the question isn’t:
👉 “Do I believe in God?”
The question is:
👉 “What is my heart actually anchored to?”
The Kingdom Flip
Then comes Luke 6:38:
“Give, and it will be given to you….”
This isn’t about transactions.
It’s about transformation.
Because giving does something powerful:
👉 It breaks the grip of whatever is trying to own your heart.
Every time you give….
your heart loosens from control
and leans back into trust.
That’s why generosity isn’t optional in the Kingdom.
👉 It’s warfare.
The Truth
You don’t accidentally serve God.
And you don’t accidentally serve money.
Both are chosen.
Repeatedly.
Daily.
And here’s the uncomfortable reality:
👉 Your habits are revealing your master.
Not your intentions.
Not your beliefs.
👉 Your patterns.
The Shift
Stop trying to manage behavior.
Start examining allegiance.
Because once your heart is aligned….
your life will follow.
But if your heart stays divided….
no amount of effort will create peace.
Reflection
- Where is my heart actually anchored right now?
- What am I trusting more than God…. even if I wouldn’t say it out loud?
- What do my spending, schedule, and stress reveal about my true master?

Declaration
My heart belongs to God alone. I will not be mastered by money, comfort, or control. I choose trust over security. I choose surrender over self-protection. And I align my life with what lasts.
